Medicaid recipients in Kentucky will now have to show proof of employment in order to receive benefits.
The Trump administration approved the state’s request to impose work requirements for Medicaid this week.
The new mandate will not apply to disabled recipients, pregnant women, or children.
About 500,000 Kentuckians have joined the Medicaid rolls under the Obamacare expansion, and the state estimates some 350,000 will be subject to the new work rules.
Maine, Arizona, Utah, Wisconsin, and Kansas want to go further by putting lifetime caps on how long people can receive health benefits.
